After seven seasons giving her opinion and advice to contestants, Katy Perry has stepped aside, with country music icon Carrie Underwood joining as a new judge alongside old hands Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Kicking off with auditions in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, Ryan Seacrest is back once more as host, alongside familiar show staples like golden tickets and show-stopping duets.

When is American Idol 2025 broadcast?
American Idol season 21 premiered in the US on March 9. New episodes arrive every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with each episode available to stream the following day after broadcast on Hulu.
Where to stream American Idol 2025
American Idol is available on Hulu, which costs $10 a month for a standalone ad-based subscription, or $19 monthly without ads. If you would rather stream the show live — and without cable — you can watch it on a live TV streaming platform like YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV or Fubo.
