Earlier, Airtel had updated its existing prepaid plans with data along with calls and SMS with new recharge vouchers. The company has launched a new plan of Rs 499. It had a validity of 84 days with unlimited calls and 900 SMS. Apart from this, Airtel had introduced a plan of Rs 1,959 which had unlimited voice calls and 3,600 SMS with a validity of 365 days. These plans have been removed from Airtel’s website. Two new ones on the company’s website Plan Information has been given. These are slightly cheaper than previous plans for calls and SMS.
The price of Airtel’s Rs 499 plan has been reduced to Rs 469 and the price of Rs 1,959 plan has been reduced to Rs 1,849. However, both these plans have the same benefits as the previous recharge vouchers. Airtel has not explained why the prices of these prepaid plans have been reduced.
To comply with the rules of the telecom regulator, Reliance Jio has launched a plan of Rs 458. It will have a validity of 84 days with unlimited voice calls and 1,000 SMS. Apart from this, the company has also provided a plan of Rs 1,958. It will have a validity of 365 days with unlimited voice calls and 3,600 SMS. These tariff plans will benefit those users who do not use data. TRAI has also taken some measures to deal with the problem of spam calls and messages. Telecom companies were also fined for failing to curb this problem. Even before this, fines have been imposed on these companies under the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR).
