Reddit user (@kanavagg) posted the bill for one of his Zepto orders shared And sought clarity from other users on the breakup of that bill. The user wrote in his post, “Please someone help me understand this calculation. I am too stupid to understand Zepto’s math, someone is very smart, please help.”
Actually the customer had ordered only milk and a charging cable from the platform. Here the user got a discount, he also applied for a voucher and the tax and platform fees were also included on the order. After all this, the user got confused about the bill and shared the screenshot of the bill on Reddit and asked other users for help in understanding it.
Explaining the breakup of the bill, one user wrote, “Milk is 112 and cable is MRP 499 list price (the price at which they sell cable is normally 119) They are giving a discount of Rs 100 on cable.” Explaining the breakup, the user further wrote;
“The calculation is as follows:
112 milk, 119 cable, so total 231
-100 cable discount, so final price 131
12 handling, 2 processing fees
145 grand total”
One shared, Tap on “Item Total and GST”. They are hiding fees in there.” Another wrote, “They just try to advocate the fact that they are doing a lot for their customers while they are doing nothing at all.”
Actually, the reason for this whole dilemma arose when the company showed the discounted price of the product in the cart and then showed the price at the top in the bill breakup without the discount.
